The Rosen
Castle Kiddies Activity Centre was founded in 1997
(then Kiddies Campus Activity Centre). It is an interactive
centre where children between the ages of four and nine
years old learn a variety of life, business and technical
skills through role playing under supervision of trained
guides.
The
Kiddies Activity Centre comprises miniature outlets
where children learn the specific skills applicable
to various businesses. There is a mini ABSA branch
with an automated teller where the kids learn the basic
principles of money management, a mini Pick ‘n
Pay outlet where they learn how to shop within a budget,
an e-tv mini-broadcasting studio where tomorrow’s
newsreaders and screen personalities can show off in
front of a real camera and even more!
To
date our Activity Centre has had more than 40 000 young
visitors and it is so popular that by November every
year the Activity Centre is usually fully booked for
the next year!
Each participating company provides their exhibition/outlet
at their own cost. The Kiddies Activity Centre is operated
on a non-profit basis, but an entry fee of R20 per
child is charged, to cover maintenance and the wages
of the guides.
From
Mondays to Thursdays schools from all over the Western
Cape visit the centre. Typically only one class (maximum
35 children) will visit the Activity Centre during
the morning from 09:00 to 12:00. On Fridays the Activity
Centre is open exclusively to the children from Rosen
Castle.
